Russain pop duo t.A.t.U. are facing legal action over the cancellation of two upcoming UK concerts, according to reports.

The controverisal 'lesbian' act, who achieved huge success with their chart-topping single, 'All The Things She Said', had been due to play arena dates in both London and Manchester this weekend. Tabloid reports yesterday claimed that the concerts had been cancelled due to poor ticket sales, though t.A.t.U.'s management blamed the loss of singer Julia Volkova's voice.

However, gig promoters EEM Group blame the cancellation on the band's management - claiming they had put "unachievable and numerous obstacles" in the way of the shows. They are consequently suing the management team for Ј300,000.EEM Group spokesman Andy Talakin said the company had been given no idea as to the content of the 'Taste Of Russia' shows, until it was requested that 300 under-16 girls dressed in school uniform be provided for each of the dates.

Talakin told the BBC: "We feel that such an exploitation of the image of underage children is morally totally unacceptable."But, according to the promoter, the final straw came when t.A.t.U's management claimed Volkova, 17, would not be able to appear at the concerts.

They later suggested that more money might "persuade" the allegedly unwell star to perform, though no evidence of Volkova's illness was ever provided.t.A.t.U.'s next single 'Not Gonna Get Us' is released in the UK this month.
