TATU's Managers Sued for Cancellations (AP Music)

Time of publication: 02.05.2003
LONDON - TATU's management has found itself on the wrong end of a lawsuit over the group's canceled British shows. The BBC reports the show's promoters, EEM, are suing TATU's managers for $483,000.

TATU canceled a show tonight at London Wembley Stadium and one Sunday for Manchester Men Arena due to poor ticket sales. The promoters are suing for what they saw as unreasonable demands -- like the underage girls, for one. Promoter Andy Talakin says TATU's management had asked for 300 girls under 16 dressed in school uniforms for each gig. He says he thought the exploitation of the image of underage children was "totally unacceptable."

Talakin says he also was told singer Julia Volkova was sick and couldn't perform, but management would "persuade" her to sing if they were paid more. A publicist for the tour says there's been no evidence of Volkova's illness.
