SUMMARY: Ivan Shapovalov, 36, the man behind faux-lesbian pop duo Tatu, was arrested Thursday in Moscow while trying to shoot a video with several schoolgirl extras.

Ivan Shapovalov, 36, the man behind faux-lesbian pop duo Tatu, was arrested Thursday on charges of disturbing the peace in Moscow's Red Square after arranging for over 200 girls to be in Tatu's new video.

Some of the girls were as young as 7, and all wore the trademark Tatu short skirts.

According to NME.com, Shapovalov wanted the girls to cavort and kiss in front of Lenin's tomb and the church of St. Basil.

One police officer said: "He threatened the girls' morality by seeking to pay them 10 rubles to pose. We wanted to stop him exploiting these young children. We didn't know what he was going to do with them."

Shapovalov later got a dressing down from a judge, after the court was told that the Kremlin had twice turned down his request to make the film on Red Square.

The filming was canceled. The video was intended for next week's Eurovision Song Contest, in which Tatu -- also known as t.A.T.u. -- will represent Russia.

Earlier this month, London police prevented the band from filming a video near the houses of Parliament.
