Claude Rajotte:

And, I've analyzed the topic of t.A.T.u., here. Their album is called "200 km/h in the Wrong Lane". This is climbing the North American charts. In Europe, it's received immense success. They are supposedly two lesbians, one of 17 and the other of 18 years old, is what they are saying.

Their clip is raising Hell for certain Puritains in England, they're saying, not too subtly, that they are promoting paedophilic pop. We can certainly remember what Britney was doing in her skimpy school uniform back when she was 14.

t.A.T.u. in Russian stands for "this girl loves that girl". Well, briefly put, if they really are lesbians, I see nothing wrong with it. Although, apparently it's all a front; they have friends, boys... Whatever... So.

This music is European teen pop, which is, granted, slightly better than what's being produced in the States right now. The sound is distinctly pop-dance, but with an edge of rock. And obviously, we can't escape the inevitable ballads. There's Trevor Horn who worked on the album, who is an excellent producer. There's a cover for "How Soon Is Now?" by the Smiths, which we are currently hearing being massacred.

They don't write any of the songs, and they have nymphette voices which are acceptable. And it's really not an album. There are only 8 songs, 2 versions in Russian--so if you feel like learning some Russian... And a remix of another song, so in the end, there are only 8 actual songs. The video clip is included and a Behind the Scenes segment. It really looks like some marketed commercial gimmick. But there are some pretty catchy tunes, so I can understand how it would be a commercial success.
