Despite of all prognoses Tatu doesn't surrender its positions. The scandalous duo is nominated for Mus Tv Awards 2006 in four categories: Best Song, Best Pop, Best Video and Best Album. We spoke with Lena Katina about the forthcoming ceremony and maniac fans.
- Lena, what surprises are you preparing for the MuzTv awards this year?
- Hello there! (Laughs). Did you think I'd tell you? You'll see it by yourselves on June, 2 in Olympiysky Arena. We are running through the performance details now and preparing SOMETHING! I hope we'll get everything done on time: the idea is very much original and difficult to pull through. By the way, we'll try to show some of the tricks at the gig in St. Petersburg. Level of the ceremony makes us to act with a whole deal of responsibility. People work professionally there. It's always pleasant to see things done professionally. As for now, we are doing reality-show Tatu Expedition for MuzTv.
- You are constantly somewhere else: either in America, or in Europe or in Asia. Why won't you tour Russia? Are you afraid to flop or don't they offer you enough much money?
- You see, as we work on international level, most of proposals come from the West. Besides, we are loved in Russia anyway but in America or in Europe we still need to win such love. We always remember that we are Russian girls therefore we promise to tour Russia by all means. We even decided where there are Russians in the crowd we'd sing Russian versions of songs if such are available. We did it recently at our gigs in Tallinn and Riga.
- As world stars, do you have maniac fans?
- Thank God, I haven't dealt with such personally so far. As for Yulia, she was stalked by one crazy girl. Can you imagine – she cut herself and wrote "I love you!" with her blood on a wall of Yulia's doorway. That's scary! We were shocked!
- What don't you like in the Western show business?
- It depends on what side you look at. Sometimes I'm tired with this non-human punctuality and precision of the Western show business. Here we do differently: if you agree to meet a person at five, then he may show up at 5:30 without any problems. Everyone is used to it. People are precise as watches in the West. You can't even be three minutes late. You are late once, you are late twice and they won't invite you any more. You get yourself on a "black list".
- You and Yulia, do you often feel like strangling each other and run in opposite directions like SMASH!! did?
- Sometimes we get tired of each other. We argue but we haven't had any serious arguments even once. It happens, as all women, once a month we get irritable and attack people around. But it's only once a month. (Laughs.) We've been together for 11 years now and became relatives by now. As for facing the same destiny as SMASH!!, it's difficult to make any prognoses. Everyone is different. Everyone has its own destiny. As one wise person told me the other day: "There are no irreplaceable people, there are only unique ones!".
