t.A.T.u.'s Lolly Good Show ("South London Press" - UK)

Time of publication: 09.05.2003
CONTROVERSIAL lesbian pop duo t.A.T.u stopped off in south London to suck on a lollipop - then strutted along the Millennium Bridge surrounded by 60 schoolgirls.

The raunchy Russians held hands as they turned the once-wobbly landmark into a catwalk on Wednesday as part of a video shoot for their latest single, Show Me Love.

The previous day, the duo - Lena Katina, 18, and Julia Volkova, 17, - had asked fans to turn up in Waterloo wearing skimpy uniforms.

But the disappointed teenagers were moved on by police because the film-makers didn't have permission to roll the cameras near the Houses of Parliament.

Some frustrated wannabes branded the event a publicity stunt and stormed off.

But around a dozen fans, who had been waiting since 9am, finally got the chance to star with their idols in the evening.

Police checked they were aged over 16 before they joined more than 50 female extras - dressed in provocative red tartan kilts, white shirts, and knee-high white socks - who were drafted in from modelling and acting agencies.

The bridge stayed open to the public throughout the filming of the scenes and some City workers took the opportunity to swagger along behind the teenage sensations.

Dark-haired singer Julia tucked into a chocolate lolly and said: "I'm enjoying London - now I'm enjoying ice cream. We have been everywhere in London today."

Linda, 24, from Herne Hill, was one of the actresses drafted in by the band for the video. She said: "We have been told we can't talk about the shoot but we have been on a bus all around London - Leicester Square, Hyde Park and many other famous places."
