Japan 'bans Tatu filming'
Controversial pop duo Tatu have been banned from making a video in Japan, it has been reported.
The Russian act were due to record scenes in two of Tokyo's busiest shopping districts on Sunday but their film application was turned down by police, according to Japanese news agency Jiji.
Julia Volkova and Lena Katina began a short promotional tour of Japan on Wednesday.
The news agency said Tokyo's Metropolitan Police Department refused their request because it was feared they would cause confusion in the pedestrianised areas.
The police declined to comment.
Jiji said Tatu had planned to use hundreds of volunteers for the shoot in the districts of Akihabara and Ginza.
The areas are made into traffic-free zones on Sundays and holidays along with other parts of central Tokyo.
The teenage singers are scheduled to appear on a popular music show on the TV Asahi network on Friday and at a music club in Tokyo on Saturday.
The group recently came third in the Eurovision song contest, prompting Russia to launch an official appeal into the result.
Tatu had been favourites to win the competition but were beaten by Turkey and Belgium in the final in Latvia.
They became the first Russian group to enjoy global pop success, with a number one single in countries including the UK, Germany and New Zealand.
The pair caused controversy when they released a raunchy video for their hit song All The Things She Said, showing them kissing one another while dressed in school uniform.
Despite the hype and shock tactics, they were forced to cancel their UK tour dates in May because of poor ticket sales.
