t.A.T.u, (Julia Volkova and Lena Katina), are making a great big splash all over the big blue marble. From the Web to the radio to the TV screen, there's been an undeniable worldwide attack by the eastern-bloc duo. The overwhelming universal reaction to their single, "All The Things She Said," puts the proof in promise that America has the arrival of a couple empowered engenues to anticipate. Their full-length album, “200 km/h in the Wrong Lane” is out from sea to shining sea on December 10, 2002. And since hitting the charts this August, "All The Things She Said" is currently #7 on the Billboard Singles Chart (right below Eve w/Ashanti and right above Pearl Jam. On the net, t.A.T.u's single was among AOL Music's top performing new artists in 2002: "All The Things She Said," was streamed by AOL members and Web music fans almost a million times in a three-week period.
The video for "All The Things She Said" is making waves at MTV, too. It was just added to "Beat Seekers" (with 3 or 4 spins a week on the show between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m.) and a Pre-RL feature. Last week, t.A.T.u. were warmly received presenters at the European MTV awards. The Latest MTV play shows heavy play in the Netherlands and at MTV Latino with a SUPERHOT rotation in Spain. Not rookies in the scene, 2001 saw their debut video "Ya Shosla S Uma" (All The Things She Said) win MTV Russia's Video of the Year Award.
Worldwide, "All The Things She Said" has recorded Platinum sales in both Italy and Norway. Their single has been #1 in Italy and Spain for 5 consecutive weeks and has charted within the Top 3 Singles of Sweden, Holland, Greece and Finland. The song just entered Sweden's Single Sales Charts at #2. Overall, their single is at #19 in the Music and Media HOT Singles European Sales Charts with releases in Germany, France and the U.K. about to launch. The band displayed long-time staying power with the #1 position on the Single Charts of Russia, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Slovenia and the Ukraine. Now t.A.T.u's appeal has branched out to encompass the West, with t.A.T.u's album going strong on the Album Charts in Italy, Spain, Greece, Belgium, Finland and Norway. With a brand new entry in Holland, the album is already at #33 in the Music and Hot Media HOT Album European sales chart. Airplay charts show the single charting firm at #33 in the Music and Media European TOP 50.
Lena and Julia are classically trained pianists with more than a little power in their pretty punch. They were the first Eastern European Group to sell more that a million albums in Europe, making them the first act from that region to receive the International Federation of the Photographic Industry (IFPI) Platinum Europe Award. Now America prepares for t.A.T.u.'s full-length release. December 10th marks their arrival -- a red letter day with special delivery straight from Moscow. Prepare for the t.A.T.u. take-over.
