Teenage lesbian pop act tATu have a lasting reminder of their first number one UK hit.

The controversial couple's debut single All The Things She Said knocked Fame Academy Winner David Snedden off the number one spot on Sunday.

And the Russian pair have celebrated their chart success by getting tattoos of the Arabic word for love - Julia on her left buttock and Lena on her right shoulder.

Lena told the Sun: "I was terribly scared of pain and I nearly fainted at the sight of the long, long needle."

tATu hit the headlines at the end of last week after TV host Richard Madely attacked the band's image and manager Ivan Shapovalov.

He accused the Russian band of cultivating a look that would appeal to paedophiles and called for them to be banned.

In the video for their chart topping single the girls, who were 14 at the time it was shot, are dressed in school uniform and share a steamy kiss.

It has been reported that Shapovalov came up with the idea for the act while researching porn on the internet.
