TOTP deny banning the Tatu video (CBBC Newsround)Time of publication: 04.02.2003 |
Top of the Pops bosses have told CBBC Newsround's website they haven't banned the Tatu video from the programme.
But it won't be shown this week.
Newspaper reports said they and CD:UK had banned the video for All The Things She Said.
Some think it's "too raunchy" because it shows the two girls in the group, Lena and Julia, kissing.
But Top of the Pops told us they had no problem with the video. They just thought because it's been on TV so much, viewers would rather watch something different.
They said series producer Chris Cowey has been offered some exclusive performances by the group to use on the show instead, and is deciding which he likes best.
Publicity stunt?
Other people in TV aren't so happy. Presenters Richard and Judy have asked people not to buy the single as a protest.
But that hasn't worked. The single went straight to number one on Sunday, knocking David Sneddon from the top of the chart.
Some reports have also suggested the video was made deliberately controversial so news stories just like this one would get written, giving the song loads of publicity.
You lot don't seem that bothered by it either. In our vote, more than 70% of you said you didn't think the video was too raunchy. |
