Tatu Flee Knife Loon ("The Sun" - UK)Time of publication: 01.03.2003 |
LESBIAN pop sensations Tatu have told how a knife-weilding maniac tried to attack them on stage.
Chart-toppers Lena and Julia were saved when bodyguards grabbed the nut.
Worried record bosses have now stepped up protection for the 18-year-old duo, who have caused outrage with their sexy schoolgirl act. The knifeman saw his chance when the girls invited fans on stage to join in -- a regular feature of their shows.
But security men grew suspicious when he kept his hands in his pockets. They then spotted the knife and hauled him away.
Lena and Julia are determined to carry on playing live despite last month's scare in the Czech Republic.
The girls revealed they often get bottles thrown at them, and had a knife hurled on stage during one gig. Julia said: "There have been incidents. But there is no point worrying that you are going to get killed when you go on stage."
Tatu, currently at No1 with All The Things She Said, are Russia's most successful pop act ever.
But their sleazy boss Ivan Shapovalov admits he created the band to appeal to perverts.
