T.A.T.U. Rapidly Seduce The World (Chart Attack)

Time of publication: 03.02.2003
Don’t say we didn’t warn you. Russian lesbian teenagers are taking over the world.

Teen tease duo T.A.T.U. , a.k.a. Julia Volkova and Lena Katina, have scored the #1 single on the U.K. charts. "All The Things She Said" rose 176 spots on the U.K. singles tally to sit above favourites like Eminem, Kelly Rowland and Jay-Z. T.A.T.U. are also tops in Austria and Switzerland and are #5 on the Eurochart Hot 100.

Resurrected Canadian dance combo Love Inc. are still enjoying a bizarre turn on the British charts thanks to the renewed interest in their 1998 single "You’re A Superstar." The single has been shoved down the list, thanks to a new batch of American R&B stars as well as T.A.T.U’s phenomenal success, but it’s still strong, currently at #18. ChartAttack favourites The Cheeky Girls are also still hanging on at #20 this week.

While T.A.T.U., with their Europop synth sound, are doing far better in Europe than they are in North America, the teens’ appeal hasn’t totally been lost on pop fans in this part of the world. "All The Things She Said" is currently sitting at #36 on the Billboard Hot 100. That’s a nice jump from last week, when the song sat at #43.

T.A.T.U.’s debut album, 200 KM/H In The Wrong Lane is also making an impact on the charts. The LP is at #20 on the U.K. Album Charts and at #53 on the Billboard 200 (up from #110 last week). T.A.T.U. reached #52 last week on the Canadian Nielsen Soundscan Chart.
