Under the pictures:

1. How would you get noticed in a world where there are already thousands of promising artists? Of course, you would make your own thing up and stick to it. Lena and Julia have chosen to sing about lesbian love and do everything to shock the world.

2. "Everyone thinks that we are lesbian, but we just love each other," says the red-haired Lena, and you just can't stop from wondering about her statement. What does she mean, really? On one side, they are singing about their lesbian love, on another, she says that either she or Julia is a lesbian.

3. They are only 17 years old but have jumped into this harsh world of showbusiness. They seem to be clever and ready to make it in this hard competition. The only thing that may possibly spoil their future is themselves, if either one of them wanders off the path, like Julia was about to do, when flirting openly with a female reporter.

4. During the tours, the girls always share one bed, says one of their tour-leaders who confirms Lena's statement that the girls are in love--even if not lesbian.

THE RUSSIAN TEENAGE DUO T.A.T.U. SINGS ABOUT THEIR LESBIAN LOVE

They shock the whole world by cuddling all the time. They're kissing both on stage and in the video "All The Things She Said". The Russian group T.A.T.U. openly show their lesbian love and they are here to stay.

Coffee and cookies goes down the wrong way out in the cabins around the world when the new Russian stars T.A.T.U. are seen cuddling in the video "All The Things She Said". There wouldn't be anything special about it, if they weren't two girls!!!

They're lesbians, say some people; a PR-trick, say another. The girls are rather sure any which way it goes.

- Everyone thinks that we are lesbian, but we just love each other, says the 17 year-old Lena Katina, the red-haired and the only one who can speak English. Oh my, yes, there’s no doubt about it.

- As soon as they out on a tour, they request a double room and a double bed, says one person from the tour team.

Can't keep their hands off each other

It's not certain how long they've been a couple, but they've known each other for a long time. They had met before, when they were small and attended the same music school. Eight years ago they were a part of a choir, where they sang covers of old songs.

During the photo session for the OKEJ magazine, they could barely keep their hands off each other. They touch each other's breasts and put their hands between the other's legs. Provocative or not, the couple doesn't take most things seriously.

- We can go as far as it is needed to achieve an effect and play down the homosexual issue.

- Our texts are sincere, they are about love between two girls. If we say what we think about it, we won't be doing as we are told to do, adds Lena.

Suspended from school

It wasn't that easy all the time. They say that Lena was suspended from school because she was homosexual and showed her interest for girls.

-It's difficult to be a homosexual in Russia. It's almost a deadly sin. So many people are afraid of homosexuality. I don't understand why--it's only love, says Lena.

The girls seem to know what they want and they aren't letting their orientation stop them. When they were in Sweden and did an interview with a Swedish magazine for girls, Lena didn't waste time and flirted with the female reporter. She moved strategically closer and asked the reporter if she had ever dated a girl. Julia, who couldn't speak English, sat there and looked on in jealousy with her hand resting between her girlfriend's legs.

Lesbian or not, it doesn't really matter. The main thing is that they make good music and their new song "All The Things She Said" has become a real hit. Behind the group stands a star producer, Trevor Horn, whom worked with the Pet Shop Boys and Frankie Goes To Hollywood.
