For from the cold of Siberia, two young women have come to Paris to set fire to France. Brimming with talent and greedy with smiles, they have decided to revolutionize the pop wolrd with their album "200 km/h In The Wrong Lane", by playing with ambiguity and unspoken words...
Good day... So how do you usually introduce yourselves to someone who doesn't know you?
Lena: "Lena Katina, 18 years old, I'm the redhead of t.A.T.u.!"
Julia: "And I'm Julia Volkova, I'm 17 years old and I'm the short-haired brunette."
Together: And be it in our country or for your European mentalities, we know that we shock, but we don't give a sh*t about may say about us. Besides, we decided to collaborate just us two by founding t.A.T.u., after having met at heart of a previous group, two years prior to that. We already have the same idea of what music should be like.
What judgments do you have about one another, and what rapports do you maintain?
"We are more eccentric when we are on stage, but generally speaking, we stick close enough to our reality. It's important for us not to pretend. We want to protect our personal lives, but you can be sure that we lie about who we are."
After your video, you can at least tell us this... Who are you exactly? Two extravagant friends or more?
"We are two young women, free in our thoughts. And we are what we want to be, in the moment we please to be in. Our private lives only concern us. For the time being, we will not say more. There are frontiers that only we can cross."
During your free time, what do you like to do?
"We have two very different characters. Julia is eccentric and while we aren't working, she goes out a lot, because she likes being in front of people. Whereas I, Lena, prefer to stay home and read or listen to music. I need to enrich my mind, I'm introverted, contrary to Julia."
What are the worst and best things of your job?
"We are very known in Russian and it's great. But sometimes it's very tiring to do things when we don't want to, like interviews or answering the unending questions of the fans. In our country, people don't intrude too much into our lives. We can leave without creating a riot. We're heading for an international career, because we love travelling and meeting new cultures, see very different things from that of our country's ways."
During your stay in France, what words have you learnt?
"We learned 'Merci', 'Steak hachй'... Well, not much, because we're here to mostly make ourselves known and work. Since we've been here in Paris, we haven't had much time to go out. We're here to promote the sound of t.A.T.u." (I'm sure they learnt a few other choice words and just didn't feel like saying... Haha. Or maybe they didn't. WHO KNOWS. -E.)

Since the release of their first single "All The Things She Said", t.A.T.u.'s visits to france are extremely rare.
