Lena: From the first moment, I thought Yulia was sweet. When I saw her for the first time, I was attracted to her immediately! That was eight years ago with the Russian children's band Neposedi, where we both used to sing.
Yulia: We were still very young then, but I thought about sex all the time even then. I got my first really erotic French kiss from a girl at my 14th birthday party during "spin the bottle".
BRAVO: When did it "click" between you?
Lena: Three years ago on a dancefloor. That was shortly after our manager Ivan had chosen us at a casting for t.A.T.u. Before that I had only kissed a boy once. And that wasn't really great. Yulia was my first lesbian experience. And I loved it!

BRAVO: Yulia, why were you kicked out of Neposedi?
Yulia: (Giggles.) Because I always wanted to be like Madonna and sing in the nude.
BRAVO: Do you still undress on stage nowadays?
Yulia: Of course, when I feel like it. But mostly it's the fans who storm the stage and then drop their clothes.
BRAVO: Is it true that you want to move to California in the near future?
Lena: Never! We will stay in Moscow! It's the coollest city on the planet, even though she [Moscow] is always portrayed so negatively by you. There's the most intense life here, the most interesting people, the hottest clubs, and parties you wouldn't even dare to dream about!
BRAVO: Are you dissed or are people hostile because you are lesbians?
Lena: Indeed. Recently an orthodox priest threatened us with eternal damnation and hell-fire in a TV talk show. Politicians have seriously demanded to bring back punishment for same-sex love because of us, and some idiots threw stones and knives at us during a concert. But I'm telling you: they will all calm down again soon and finally realize that there can never be anything bad about two people loving each other, no matter what their sex is.
BRAVO: Have you graduated from school?
Lena: Of course. We were both educated at colleges of music for many years and now we are in university. Yulia studies music, mainly concentrating on piano. I can play the piano pretty good as well, by the way. But I decided in favour of psychology studies.
BRAVO: When will you finally come and tour in our country?
Yulia: This year. Up till now, it's been us on stage with just three dancers and a bodyguard. But now we want to develop a brandnew show and come to Germany with that--really big with a rock band and hard as nails sound!
