Tatu to take on Eurovision contest ("Russian Journal" - Russia)

MOSCOW - The Russian pop duo Tatu is heading into this month's Eurovision Song Contest full of confidence.

The band, whose skimpy outfits and flirtation with lesbianism made headlines around the world, told reporters in Moscow on Friday that they fully anticipate emerging victorious at the major European pop event.

The contest will be held on May 24 in Riga, Latvia.

But manager Ivan Shapovalov said that the teenage duo weren't entering the contest to boost their own popularity, but rather to add to the prestige of Russia, which isn't known for producing pop groups that are a hit on the rest of the continent.

Lena Katina and Yulia Volkova, both 18, had an international hit with "All the Things She Said," and became the first Russian band to break through the tough British singles chart
