Tatu: We will win either way (Dni.Ru - Russia)Time of publication: 24.05.2003 |
In the fire-place room of the five star Hotel de Roma Tatu girls appeared a few moments later then Ivan Shapovalov, who said that the group was created for love, and all they need for support on the contest is some love from the fans. Answering my remark: "But half the world loves them" Ivan replied: "Yes, but half the world doesn’t love them yet". Julia and Lena from Tatu give impression of two quiet girls, since Shapovalov answers most of their question, and the girls just agree or disagree.
Commenting on the most worrying question: what Tatu are planning to do on stage, what should we expect, Ivan said, that she shouldn’t expect anything surprising.
Ivan: “We had to chose, to give a chance to Russia, or to say something to the world. I chose to give Russia a chance. This contest is purely political. Non of the musical problems are solved like this. We just have to hear the answer to the question: is Europe ready to cooperate with Russia? Tatu don’t need this contest, but we are patriots of our country, and hope that Russia will win.
Tatu are going to win either way – but if we are not going to be the first, then the relationship between Europe and Russia is going to take another turn. Because Tatu don’t have opponents – only Madonna and Eminem are our opponents in the album sales now, but their do not participate in this contest. I don’t understand what’s happening around Tatu. Every paper here is full of: "We won’t allow", "The police is ready for everything". This small country Latvia is afraid of two little girls. I don’t understand. Are the mini skirts scaring people? Or what?”
”When is Tatu’s new album coming out?”
Ivan: “No earlier then autumn. We got into the show-business machine. Either we refuse to earn money, and release songs one after another, or we try to earn some money and play by the rules.”
”Lena, your father is a famous musician. Did he attempt to influence you in artistic ways?”
Lena: “I influence him. He calls me from time to time, asking me to come home and see this and that. But he is not my dad anymore, we are best friends.”
”When was the last time you had a vocation?”
Lena: “We will have one soon.”
Julia: “I want to go to Cyprus.”
Ivan: “We have been to USA, UK. Haven’t been to Cyprus yet.”
Lena: “I also want to go to Turkey. To Crimea. Go to the beach. Just lie there and do nothing.”
Ivan (laughing): “Group Tatu, lie and do nothing. They are not gonna get us.”
