Tatu's first visit to Japan - Deluge of Fans at Narita Airport (Sanspo.Com)

Time of publication: 26.06.2003
The Tatu whirlwind has landed in Japan at last!! The Russian high school girl duo Yulia (18) and Lena (18) arrived in Japan on the 25th. About two months have passed since their original visit, planned for April, was cancelled on doctor's orders, and they have experienced major success, with sales of their debut album (including the imported edition) breaking through the 1.8 million mark. About 300 fans gathered at Narita Airport in an attempt to catch a glimpse of the two girls.

They were both wearing trousers when they reached the arrivals gate, with Lena in a t-shirt and Yulia in a camisole top. There were occasional glimpses of their navels, not to mention the tattoo on Yulia's back. They held hands during the storm of flashes from photographers, smiled at everyone and said hello.

High school girls who had skipped classes to dash to the airport screamed out "Lena!" and "Yulia!", pronouncing the girls' names in the Russian manner. Lena responded by blowing kisses, but the two passed by the crowd in about 20 seconds. A high school girl (18) from Yokohama who had waited to see them since the previous night said, "Lena smiled at me. I've got goosebumps (chicken skin, in Japanese) and I feel...(untranslatable, sorry - just imagine how you'd feel if Lena had smiled at you )"

They later went shopping in Tokyo's Shibuya district and in the evening went to eat sushi in Roppongi, to which they had been looking forward. On the 27th they will appear on TV Asahi's Music Station programme (Friday, 20:00), on the 28th they will hold a live event in the capital to thank their fans and on the 29th they will film the video for their new song.
