tATu can't go unseen and even when much has been said about these two russian singers, they have known how to stand up against rumours with their caracteristic brave attitude. But, who are Yulia and Lena, really? In this interview they reveal their most intimate feelings to us. Dare you to know them!
B: You CD occupies the first places in charts. Did you expect to have such success?
L: We're very surprised! It all happened so quickly it seems a dream.
Y: Yes, in 2001 we won an MTV award for Best Video for ATTSS, and since then we haven't stopped working.
B: Your music has generated a lot of polemics, how have you faced it?
L: At the beggining it was very hard because we even got death threats in Rusia because of the message of our songs. But now we're stronger and we don't care about what people say. We're like this and we're not going to change!
Y: Some people have been very unfair to us, and that still hurts. For example, a month ago, russian authorities didn't let us film the clip for Show Me Love in the Kremlin because it is a national monument, but they did give Paul McCartney chance to do a concert in there. WTF? That was unfair and it hurt.
B: What about the rumours that have arose about you? Has any of them made you cry?
L: Of course not, they're mega ridiculous! [Laughs.] (Just like Lena to say that those rumours are "mega ridiculous". LOL. ~darje) Like when it was said that we were Ivan Shapovalov's lovers. Please, those are products of a sick mind!
Y: Don't believe everything that is said, tATu's truth is in our music and love.
B: What's true about you being girlfriends of your ex Neposedi mates?
L: Vlad and Sergey are good boys and we love having fun with them, but that's it. Zero romance!
B: Confess, what's the relationship with you two?
Y: Well, we're friends, group-mates, almost sisters and we love each other. We can't live separate.
B: And when you're on vacation, you also live together?
L: No, we live with our parents in Moscow. We miss them a lot during our tours, so we try to be most of the time with them.
Y: But we keep a lot of telephone contact and we sometimes see each other. We find it imposible to be apart for more than a week!
B: Your family are mde by…
L: My two older sisters (By god, SOMEONE PLEASE CLEAR THIS UP. OLDER OR YOUNGER?! ~darje), my dad, Sergey, and my mom, Inessa. I also have a chow chow dog called Blanca [Blankeria].
Y: I'm an only daughter, my parents are called Oleg and Larissa, and I have Rada, a setter.
B: Do you have any lucky amulets?
Y: [Thinks.] In my case, it's Lena. She gives me good vibe, comfort, support, love… When I'm by her side I know everything will go alright, I need no more!
L: [Thrilled by Yulia's reply.] I think the same, Yulia's my amulet. Together we're invincible!
B: Describe one another:
L: Yulia is very brave, she never gives up until she gets to her objective. Besides, she loves playing jokes and is always thrilled on hiding my stuff from me. She's a menace!
Y: Lena is romantic and very quiet. Generally she doesn't like to go dancing but she loves staring at the stars in a moonless night. (O.o? ~darje) What I admire the most about her is her tenderness.
B: tATu imposed a fashion with your schoolgirl uniforms. What does this mean to you?
L: It's incredible, because this look has become our personal seal and that's awesome.
Y: [Visibly happy.] When we shot a video in England, we wanted some fans from that country to follow us and hundreds of them presented in uniform. It was awesome!
B: Do you have any message for your mexican fans?
L: Yes, lots of them. (For some reason, I figured they'd pull a Britney and give the interviewer the finger. LOL. ~darje) The first one is that we would love to visit your country and we hope to be there very soon to meet you all. The other one is that you should accept your bodies and hearts. Live with love!
Y: I want to tell them that they shouldn't be afraid of the opinion of everyone else. Be yourselves, forever!
B: Lastly, what do you expect to do these next months?
L: Lots of them, one of them is a Europe tour.
Y: We're also thinking of releasing a DVD with our clips, concert scenes, and backstages. It will be a gift for our fans!
